Just finished Marian Keyes new book the Mystery of Mercy close and loved every page. I'm a big chick-lit fan so wasn't too sure if I'd like it, as it sounded more like a mystery book. However as I've loved all Marian Keyes other books I thought I'd give it a go. And I'm so glad I did.
If you loved Rachels Holiday, then this is the book for you.
The Mystery of Mercy close is the fifth book in the Walsh family novels, although you don't need to have read the others to enjoy this book. It was lovely to catch back up with Mammy Walsh who had me laughing my head off at times.
| I love a book that has a nice cover. |
| The inside page also looked good, with cute little pictures. |
I couldn't put it down
This is Helen's story the youngest of the Walsh sisters, her work as a private investigator has dried up and her flat has been repossessed. She's at rock bottom when her ex boyfriend Jay Parker shows up. He wants to hire Helen to find Wayne from the boyband Laddz before their gig in 5 days time. As she's back living with her parents and badly needs some money, she takes the job on.
This kept me turning the pages, right to the end, I just had to find out where Wayne was. I had a few ideas, but was so wrong.
The thing I love about Marian keyes novels, is that she isn't afraid to deal with the darker parts of life. And this book is no different, we soon find out that Helen has also been struggling with depression.
The worst part for me was when the book ended. I always feel a little sad when I've finished a good book and wish I'd read it a bit slower.
